Walter’s Place Honoured at The District of North Van Annual Awards
We are thrilled to announce that the District of North Vancouver’s Advisory Design Panel has voted Walter’s Place as “Honourable Mention” for the 2017 Advisory Design Panel Award. The Panel was, “very impressed with the design of Walter’s Place.” Some of the features that led to the award included, “a strong architectural design with successful form and composition, a neighborly approach and use of material that suited the Lynn Valley context.” – District of North Vancouver Design Panel.
Walter’s Place is the only other project recognized by the District as Honourable Mentioned. The project that received the final award was the new Delbrook Community Recreation Centre.
Design inspirations of Walter’s Place came from Lynn Valley’s backdrop of dense greenery and towering mountains. Milori’s use of large cedar beams and cedar fencing wraps the building, giving it warmth, texture and durability. The unique architectural design by GBL Architects creates a dynamic perspective from every angle. The large decks with solid sleek glass railings takes full advantage of the valley and mountain views.
Walter’s Place met the equivalent standards of Built Green Gold – an important element to Milori by incorporating our principles of environmental responsibility to all the communities we touch.
Thank you to our passionate Milori team members, GBL Architects, and other consultants and subcontractors for this accomplishment.
